Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) has urged the public to be alert to the potential for traffic density during this year’s Eid al-Fitr holiday period. Projections indicate a significant increase in vehicle movement on agglomeration routes or local commuting areas in various regions.

The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas Polri), Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, has asked all his subordinates to be more prepared in facing this public movement. He is also directly monitoring the readiness of personnel from the command centre to ensure smooth traffic flow in adjacent areas.

“Tomorrow will be dense in those agglomerations. So local commuting from Solo to Semarang, Semarang to Solo, from Bogor to Bekasi, we are anticipating that for tomorrow,” said Inspector General Agus, quoted by detikcom on Saturday (21/3/2026).

His side has highlighted several main points projected to experience surges in vehicle volume due to mobility between nearby cities. Buffer areas around the capital to strategic regions in Java and Bali are the primary focus of on-site officer supervision.

“So from Jabodetabek, there’s Solo Raya, possibly in Surabaya, Malang Raya, Bali, these have already been anticipated,” he explained.

To maintain smooth traffic flow, instructions have been given to all police personnel on duty at security posts. Monitoring is not only focused on long-distance commuters but also on people making short trips across city boundaries within one area.

“Therefore, we hope all officers remain on standby to monitor journeys, whether local commuting or from Jakarta to Central Java, East Java,” he added.

In addition to inter-city greetings movements, the police are also paying attention to mobility towards holiday destinations after the Idul Fitri celebration. Family recreation spots in various areas are ensured to receive extra escort to prevent congestion that often occurs every year.

“Besides the return flow, agglomerations, I remind again including tourist spots, we will tighten guarding, security, and escort,” he stated.

This increased guarding also covers vital transportation nodes such as inter-island ferry ports that often become vehicle accumulation points.

“Regarding tourist spots, we have anticipated from the command post to all ranks, including ports; Bakauheni, Merak, Gilimanuk, we have anticipated everything,” he emphasised.
