Traffic Flow on Cipali Toll Road Increasing as Rest Area Usage Limited to 30 Minutes
CIREBON – As the festive season approaches four days before Eid, traffic flow along the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road heading towards Cirebon showed a noticeable increase on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, coinciding with the start of the peak holiday travel period.
Ardam Rafif Trisilo, Head of Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications at Astra Tol Cipali, reported that between midnight and 9 a.m., approximately 22,000 vehicles travelled through Cikopo towards Cirebon, representing a 22.2 per cent increase compared to the same period the previous day.
In the opposite direction, approximately 8,000 vehicles travelled towards Jakarta, a 2.2 per cent increase from the same period on the previous day.
“Overall, traffic volume on the Cipali toll road increased by 9.2 per cent compared to the same period yesterday,” Ardam stated.
Regarding user services, rest areas along the Cipali toll road experienced significant visitor traffic, though parking capacity remained available. Astra Tol Cipali urged motorists to limit rest stops to a maximum of 30 minutes, allowing rest area facilities to be used equitably by all road users.
Motorists also have the option of using facilities outside the toll road by exiting at the nearest toll gate to rest and re-entering without incurring additional charges. This is possible because the Trans-Java Toll Network operates on a closed toll system, with charges calculated based on distance travelled.
Astra Tol Cipali also cautioned against stopping on road shoulders, warning that such actions could impede traffic flow and compromise road safety for all travellers.
