In the meeting, Irjen Agus emphasised that the approach prioritised not just law enforcement, but collaboration with transportation business actors. He stated that the National Police Traffic Corps aimed to foster a more communicative working pattern to drive joint improvements.

“We are not proud of enforcing the law, but we will be pleased to collaborate and communicate with partners to find the best solutions,” said Irjen Agus on Tuesday (5/5/2025).

He explained that every accident must be viewed comprehensively. According to him, accident causes do not solely stem from driver factors or human error, but can also be influenced by vehicle conditions, company management, and road and environmental factors.

“Errors are not absolutely on the driver. It could also be from the vehicle or management. Even corporations can share responsibility,” he said.

Irjen Agus also highlighted the importance of evaluating accident incidents, including those at level railway crossings. He affirmed that accident analysis results could serve as a basis for improving supervision systems and transportation company governance.

Additionally, the Traffic Corps encouraged the implementation of a traffic attitude record system to monitor driver behaviour in an integrated manner, including violation data recorded through the electronic ticketing system (ETLE). This step was deemed essential to ensure drivers possess competence as well as good driving behaviour.

Irjen Agus also offered a retraining programme for drivers through the Indonesia Safety Driving Center (ISDC), as an effort to enhance discipline and traffic safety awareness.

“From around 10,000 drivers, there needs to be control and guidance. They can be retrained to be more disciplined and compliant,” he stated.

In response, Director of Taksi Green SM Denny Gunawan conveyed that his side welcomed the collaboration plan. He also expressed sympathy for the incident that occurred and assured that the company had taken initial steps, including contacting the victims.

“At the same time, we sympathise with the event that took place. We have also taken several steps, one of which is contacting the victims, regardless of the ongoing investigation process,” said Denny.

He acknowledged that there were still several aspects that needed improvement, particularly in driver guidance. His side was preparing a retraining programme to build a safety culture as the top priority.

“We see there are still areas that can be improved, such as retraining. How to build a culture so that drivers make safety the top priority,” he said.

According to him, the implementation of training so far still faced several obstacles. Therefore, collaboration with the Traffic Corps was hoped to bring more effective and standardised education for drivers.

“With this collaboration, we hope that education from competent parties can become a benchmark for drivers not to repeat violations,” he added.

Going forward, Taksi Green SM assured that it would involve traffic personnel in driver training programmes, including during fleet expansion.

This collaboration is expected to serve as a model for synergy between the National Police Traffic Corps and transportation companies in enhancing safety, while also strengthening public trust in public transport services.
