Traffic Corps Chief: Operation Ketupat Not Only Focused on Regulating Eid Exodus Traffic but Also Securing Worship
Jakarta, VIVA – The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas), who also serves as the Head of the Central Operations (Kaopspus) for Operation Ketupat 2026, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, has confirmed readiness for securing Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, particularly at worship sites and community activity locations.
According to him, all units have prepared security from Takbiran night until the Id prayers to ensure the public can worship safely and comfortably.
“Regarding Eid al-Fitr security, including Takbiran night and Id prayers, all units are ready,” stated Kakorlantas at the Thamrin Police Post, Jakarta, on Friday, 20 March 2026.
Agus emphasised that Operation Ketupat does not only focus on traffic regulation during the mudik and return flows but also encompasses security for religious activities and social moments for the community during Ramadan up to Eid al-Fitr.
Several strategic points such as mosques, fields for Id prayers, and community activity centres are the focus of security to anticipate potential disruptions to public security and order (Kamtibmas).
“Operation Ketupat does not only focus on traffic but also ensures public security and order during Ramadan up to Eid al-Fitr, including other social and spiritual moments,” he explained.
On the other hand, Kakorlantas also reported that traffic conditions are still monitored as safe and under control, both on toll roads and arterial routes.
Although there has been an increase in vehicle volume on several arterial road sections, various traffic engineering measures such as open-close, route diversions, contraflow, and one-way systems have been prepared by local police units.
“We provide traffic updates for both arterial roads and toll roads. On arterial roads, there has indeed been an increase in flow, but the Provincial Police Chiefs and Traffic Directors have prepared various scenarios such as open-close, route diversions, including contraflow and one-way in several areas,” he said.
“Secondly, for toll roads, the peak mudik flow is estimated to occur on the 18th and 19th, with a volume of around 270,000 vehicles. Compared to last year, there is an increase of about 4.26 percent,” he added.
With comprehensive security preparations, Kakorlantas hopes that the entire Eid al-Fitr series can proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly, allowing the public to celebrate the day of victory with full comfort.
