The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas), Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, inspected the return traffic flow at the Pejagan Toll Gate on the Pejagan-Pemalang toll road section in Central Java on Thursday evening (26/3). This inspection was conducted to ensure smooth traffic on the Trans Java toll road, which is beginning to show an increase in vehicle volume. Agus stated that based on police data, a large portion of holidaymakers have yet to return to western areas. “From the initial projection of 3.4 million return vehicles, currently around 36% or 1.224 million vehicles are still en route,” said Agus. Agus noted congestion at several critical points, particularly around rest areas. “The toll road conditions still show density. There is a slowdown in vehicle speed when approaching rest areas,” explained Agus. Agus mentioned that to anticipate long traffic jams, his side has instructed the implementation of traffic engineering. Several measures include the situational application of contra-flow systems to increase lane capacity towards Jakarta. “Dynamic evaluation, traffic engineering will continue to be adjusted to the vehicle volume monitored through traffic counting. Then, supervision of areas before Pejagan, the team has conducted similar evaluations in the Semarang area since Thursday morning,” clarified Agus. After inspecting the point in Brebes, the Traffic Corps Chief’s entourage is scheduled to continue monitoring on the Cipali Toll Road and Jakarta-Cikampek sections, which are predicted to be convergence points for traffic from Central and West Java. During his visit to the Pejagan Toll Gate, Agus was accompanied by the Director of Traffic of the Central Java Regional Police, Commissioner Pratam Adhyasastra, and the Brebes Police Chief, AKBP Lilik Ardiansyah.
