Majalengka — The police have implemented an open-close system at several rest areas to anticipate vehicle congestion during Operation Keselamatan Lodaya 2026. This policy aims to maintain smooth traffic flow whilst ensuring the comfort of road users resting in the area.

West Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan stated that access restrictions are imposed when the rest area parking capacity is nearing full. This measure is designed to prevent vehicle accumulation that could disrupt traffic flow on the toll road.

“When capacity reaches approximately 90 per cent, access will be restricted. When completely full, the entrance will be temporarily closed to prevent vehicle buildup inside the rest area, which could cause congestion on the toll road,” Rudi said during an inspection of Cipali Toll Road Rest Area at Kilometre 166 in Majalengka Regency on Monday, 16 March 2026.

In addition to vehicle capacity management, the police have installed surveillance systems to monitor activities at the rest area, including the movement of people and vehicles entering and exiting the area.

According to Rudi, such monitoring is conducted to ensure rest areas remain safe and orderly for road users who stop to rest.

“We monitor all movement of people and vehicles coming and going to ensure proper oversight. Hopefully this will help prevent unwanted incidents,” he said.

He also urged drivers to use rest areas for rest when feeling fatigued during their journey. By resting briefly, the risk of drowsy driving can be avoided.

“If you feel tired, it is best to rest first so you do not become drowsy whilst driving and can reach your destination safely,” Rudi said.

The police have also deployed field officers to anticipate increased public activity at certain times, such as before breaking the fast and during sahur meals.

Rudi noted that by the fourth day of monitoring, vehicle volume on the toll road had indeed increased. However, traffic flow remained under control.

“We have prepared our management strategy. Inshallah we will do our best to provide comfort for the public,” he said.

Meanwhile, Majalengka Regent Eman Suherman stated that the Majalengka Regency Government fully supports the security and traffic management measures being carried out by the West Java Regional Police along with various related parties.

According to him, inter-agency coordination is being conducted to ensure the public passing through or stopping at rest areas feels safe and comfortable during their journey.

“We from the Majalengka Regency Government fully support the security and traffic management efforts being carried out by the West Java Regional Police and related parties,” Eman said.

He also reminded drivers, particularly those returning to home towns and long-distance road users, not to force themselves to drive while fatigued.

“We urge drivers to use rest areas for rest if they feel tired. Do not force yourselves to drive while drowsy as this could endanger safety,” he said.

To support smooth and safe traffic during this high mobility period, the Majalengka Regency Government has also prepared various services through several regional agencies. This support includes free health services from the Health Office, a regional disaster management agency, the Transportation Office, as well as civil police and fire brigades deployed in the field.
