Jakarta — Indonesia is continuing to strengthen trade and investment cooperation in Southeast Asia and the ASEAN region. This effort is evident from bilateral meetings held by Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti with several strategic partners during the 32nd ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM) Retreat in Taguig, Philippines, on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Roro met with Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, as well as Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Sim Tze Tzin. The discussions focused on strengthening trade and investment cooperation in the region.

The meeting with Singapore highlighted the development of bilateral trade relations between the two countries. Trade value between Indonesia and Singapore has shown an increasing trend over recent years.

“Indonesia-Singapore trade relations are demonstrating very positive developments. Going forward, we see great opportunities to expand cooperation, particularly in promoting Indonesian exports of higher added-value products,” Roro stated in a press statement on Sunday, 15 March 2026.

Indonesia-Singapore trade partnership is considered to have significant potential for continued growth, with strengthening exports of high-value-added products as one of the main focuses.

Indonesia also reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the accession process for the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). Roro views CPTPP as a modern trade framework capable of strengthening economic integration across the Indo-Pacific region whilst expanding market access for Indonesian products.

“Indonesia is committed to continuing the CPTPP accession process as part of our national economic transformation agenda and to strengthen Indonesia’s integration into a rules-based global trading system,” she said.

Indonesia is driving the strengthening of various regional economic initiatives, a step deemed important for supporting more inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the region. “Indonesia is committed to continuing the CPTPP accession process as part of our national economic transformation agenda and to strengthen Indonesia’s integration into a rules-based global trading system,” she added.
