Trade Minister Budi Santoso stated that the prices of staple goods at several markets remain relatively stable with adequate stocks ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H. During a direct inspection of Rawasari Market in Jakarta on Monday, 16 March 2026, Budi said the Trade Ministry conducts direct market oversight to ensure product availability and price stability of foodstuffs at the merchant level.

“In addition, through market inspections, we can psychologically influence merchants not to sell at inflated prices or above the government price ceiling. We continue to do this,” said Budi.

Based on monitoring results at Rawasari Market, several key commodities remain within reasonable price ranges.

Chicken prices were recorded at approximately Rp 40,000 per kilogramme, in line with the government’s selling price reference (HAP). Meanwhile, red onions were selling at Rp 40,000 per kilogramme with an HAP of Rp 41,500.

Minyakita, the government’s subsidised cooking oil, was selling at around Rp 15,700 per litre, or in line with the government-set maximum retail price (HET).

Budi stated that the government is also encouraging the availability of other cooking oil brands as complementary options to Minyakita so that citizens have more choices whilst prices remain affordable.

“There are many second-brand oils. These second-brand oils are actually oils that complement Minyakita, so the public has many options. Not only is Minyakita affordable, but we also want other oils to be affordable to the public,” he said.

Despite this, Budi noted that certain commodities have experienced slight price increases, such as bird’s eye chillies and eggs, as demand increases ahead of Eid. According to him, these increases remain within reasonable limits.

The government will continue to monitor prices and the supply of staple goods through the Eid period to ensure the public’s needs remain met, partly through the Market and Staple Goods Monitoring System (SP2KP).

“Every day we receive contributions from several regions. We monitor 550 market points continuously and track price developments,” he said.

According to SP2KP data from 13 March 2026, medium-grade rice was recorded at Rp 13,680 per kilogramme, premium rice at Rp 15,342 per kilogramme, Minyakita at Rp 15,872 per litre, premium cooking oil at Rp 21,180 per litre, broiler chicken meat at Rp 40,462 per kilogramme, and chicken eggs at Rp 30,879 per kilogramme.

Meanwhile, curly red chillies cost Rp 39.79 per kilogramme, bird’s eye chillies Rp 78,079 per kilogramme, large red chillies Rp 41,630 per kilogramme, red onions Rp 39,934 per kilogramme, and garlic Rp 36,146 per kilogramme.
