Trade Expo Indonesia 2026 Aims for Rp 293 Trillion in Transactions
The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) has set an ambitious target for the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) in 2026. The value of transactions at the country’s largest trade promotion event is targeted to reach US$17.5 billion, equivalent to Rp 293.35 trillion, assuming an exchange rate of Rp 16,763 per US dollar.
The 2026 TEI is scheduled to take place from October 14-18, 2026, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang Regency, Banten.
Minister of Trade Budi Santoso said that the target is about 6% higher than the previous year’s target. However, the government hopes that the actual transactions will exceed the target, as happened in the previous year.
“We are targeting US$17.5 billion in transactions this year. Last year, the target was US$16.5 billion, and it reached US$22.83 billion. We hope that with a target of US$17.5 billion, we will achieve even higher results,” said Budi at the launch of the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia 2026 at the Ministry of Trade Auditorium, Jakarta, Thursday (February 26, 2026).
Budi believes that TEI is one of the important instruments to boost national export performance, especially in the face of improving global market prospects and increasing access to trade through various trade agreements between Indonesia and its partner countries.
This optimism is also supported by Indonesia’s export performance, which still grew by 6.15% last year, even though businesses faced uncertainty and global trade dynamics.
“So we are optimistic that transactions will run well and, of course, we hope that our exports will increase even more next year,” he said.
At TEI 2026, the products on display will be divided into several main zones, ranging from food, beverage and agricultural products, manufactured products, industrial estates, fashion and handicrafts, to furniture and home decor.
Meanwhile, the Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, said that TEI is an annual agenda that consistently brings thousands of international buyers to Indonesia.
This year, TEI carries the tagline “The Ultimate Hub for Global Sourcing,” which reflects Indonesia’s readiness to become a global trading center and supplier of quality products, both based on manufacturing, agriculture, and sustainable technology.
“We hope that this tagline will be used for a longer time because I think it is very touching and accurately describes Indonesia’s readiness to supply the world with high-quality products,” said Punto at the same event.
In terms of organization, the Ministry of Trade is also making several improvements. One of them is the implementation of stricter zoning and grouping of products to make it easier for buyers to find the commodities they need.
“Then, some of the differences we are making this year are that we are starting to implement stricter zoning and grouping so that we hope this will attract more buyers,” she said.
Specifically for the food and beverage sector, the Ministry of Trade will provide a thematic hall for coffee, tea, and cocoa commodities, complete with Cupping of Excellence attractions and various activities involving the Indonesian Specialty Coffee Community (KKSI).
With these various improvements, the government is optimistic that TEI 2026 will be even more competitive and attract global buyers, while also encouraging the participation of national exporters and exhibitors.
The implementation of TEI 2026 also takes place in the midst of a changing global trade landscape, where strengthening exports, diversifying non-traditional markets, and strengthening supply chains are strategic agendas for Indonesia.
For the record, in 2025, TEI transactions reached US$22.80 billion with 34,550 visitors and 1,619 exhibitors, with the most buyers coming from Malaysia, China, India, Nigeria, and Egypt.
While in TEI 2024, transactions were recorded at US$22.73 billion with 41,448 visitors and 1,460 exhibitors. In fact, at TEI 2023, the transaction value reached US$30.50 billion with 38,900 visitors and 1,234 exhibitors.
