The Chair of the Tim Penggerak Pemberdayaan dan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (TP PKK) Tri Tito Karnavian attended the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) held from 9–19 March 2026 at UN headquarters in New York, United States.

CSW70 is a global annual forum under the UN that discusses progress in gender equality and women’s empowerment worldwide. The forum is attended by delegations from approximately 193 UN member states, UN bodies, and international civil society organisations.

The CSW70 proceedings comprise several key activities, including the commemoration of International Women’s Day, Opening Plenary and General Discussion, Ministerial Roundtable Dialogue, and various side events hosted by member states and international organisations. The session’s theme emphasises the importance of ensuring that women and girls have equal access to legal systems, justice protection, and the removal of various structural barriers that continue to hinder gender equality.

Tri’s attendance at the forum represents part of Indonesia’s participation in strengthening global efforts towards women’s empowerment and the protection of women and children. The TP PKK is considered to have a strategic role in promoting family welfare improvements through strengthening women’s roles and protecting women and children at the community level, given its function as a community-based family empowerment movement that extends to village and sub-district levels.

The forum will feature panellists from the Philippines, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia to share experiences and best practices in strengthening access to justice for women and girls. Through participation in this international forum, the space for collaboration and exchange of best practices between nations is expected to expand further. This participation is expected to strengthen the role of families and communities in supporting inclusive and sustainable development.
