Toyota Avanza Loses Control, Collides with Four Motorbikes in Bekasi, Triggering Public Outrage and Vehicle Vandalism
BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – A Toyota Avanza with license plate number B-2660-UYM became the target of public outrage after being involved in an accident with several motorcyclists on a road near Ruko Bekasi Mas, Margajaya Village, South Bekasi District, Bekasi City, Wednesday (February 25, 2026).
The incident went viral on social media after being uploaded to the Instagram account @lbj_jakarta and garnered various comments from netizens.
In the circulating video, several residents are seen stopping to observe the accident. Shortly after, a crowd gathered and expressed their anger by damaging parts of the Toyota vehicle.
The Head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Unit (Kanit Gakkum) of the Bekasi City Metro Police, Iptu Rojali, explained that the accident began when the Toyota car, driven by Mulyadi (55), was traveling from the Lalamic Centre (south) towards the Bekasi City Government (north).
“Upon arriving at the location, the car driven by Mulyadi suddenly swerved to the left, hitting a parking attendant named Jumi (56) and a concrete barrier,” said Rojali when confirmed by Kompas.com, Thursday (February 26, 2026).
According to him, part of the car’s body briefly went onto the sidewalk. As it attempted to reverse, the vehicle instead collided with a Honda Supra 125 motorcycle ridden by Suyatno and a Vario 160 motorcycle ridden by Aditya Heri Pratama.
Rojali revealed that the Toyota Avanza then tried to move forward again. However, the vehicle swerved to the right again, hitting a motorcycle belonging to Fandi Satia Engge and a Honda Beat ridden by Firman Afala.
“As a result of the incident, Jumi suffered serious injuries. The victim was then taken to Hermina Hospital in Bekasi City. And several of the vehicles involved suffered severe damage,” said Rojali.
He added that the four motorcycles involved were temporarily secured at the Bekasi City Metro Police for data collection purposes.
However, the case did not proceed to the legal realm. All parties involved chose to resolve the matter amicably.
“Everyone agreed to discuss the matter and not file a police report,” said Rojali.
