The Eid holiday at Pantai Air Manis in Padang this year was notably crowded, with visitors arriving from various regions. Amid the high volume of tourists at Pantai Air Manis, the Padang City Inspectorate joined the visitors. This Local Government Unit (OPD) of the Padang City Government carried out socialisation efforts to prevent corrupt practices in the tourist area during the holiday period. Interestingly, over the four-day period from 21 to 24 March, the Inspectorate found no public complaints, particularly regarding indications of illegal levies (pungli) or corrupt behaviour by individuals at the tourist site. “Alhamdulillah, we have not found or received any reports related to corrupt behaviour or pungli, either from the public or visitors,” said Junior Auditor Irban III of the Padang City Inspectorate, Syamsurizal, on Thursday (26/3). During those four days, the Inspectorate focused on socialising with visitors while opening a complaint post for the public. In addition to direct field supervision, the team provided education to visitors to encourage them to report any suspicious practices. Reports can be submitted directly to the post or through the official channels www.inspektorat.kotapadang.go.id or Instagram of the Padang City Inspectorate. Furthermore, Syamsurizal reminded visitors to be more vigilant against irresponsible individuals. “We advise visitors to recognise official personnel who wear complete uniforms. If someone asks for money without clear identification, it should be treated with caution,” he emphasised. Moving forward, the Inspectorate will coordinate with leadership and special teams to follow up on any violations found. This effort is expected to create a safe, comfortable, and corruption-free tourism atmosphere in Padang City.
