Tourism Ministry Courts US Tourists at Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show 2026
Jakarta – The Ministry of Tourism is seeking to attract tourists from the United States and North America through the “Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show 2026”, held from 7 to 8 March 2026.
“We want to introduce Indonesia’s diverse premier destinations more closely whilst building sustainable business connections with industry partners in this region,” said Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana in an official statement confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Widiyanti explained that this participation represents a concrete step in expanding market penetration and strengthening Indonesia’s image as a preferred destination for American tourists, who are among the largest contributors to Indonesia’s tourism figures.
The Indonesian Pavilion will showcase various premier destinations and world-class tourism products, highlighting natural wealth, culture, and authentic experiences, involving eight tourism industry players consisting of Destination Management Companies (DMC)/tour operators and accommodation businesses.
The Indonesian Pavilion will present an activation called “Taste of Indonesia”, a special area serving diverse Indonesian culinary delicacies as part of promoting Indonesia’s gastronomic tourism. This initiative represents a strategic collaboration with the Indonesia Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Los Angeles.
Business matching in San Francisco will take place on 10 March 2026 at the Indonesian Consulate General’s office in San Francisco, in cooperation with Singapore Airlines (West Coast) and Aero Globe Indonesia.
Subsequently, similar activities will be held at the Indonesian Consulate General in Vancouver on 12 March 2026, collaborating with EVA Air (Vancouver).
According to officials, North America represents a strategic market with significant potential for Indonesian tourism.
“Through business matching activities in San Francisco and Vancouver, we together with Indonesian tourism industry players will directly engage potential partners in those markets, thereby creating real cooperation opportunities aligned with the interests and needs of prospective tourists,” said Made.
These targets are seen as reflecting optimism regarding increased contributions from the tourism sector in supporting national economic growth.
