Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana has ensured the smooth operations and quality of services at the Taman Safari Bali and Marine Safari Bali tourist destinations following the long Nyepi and Lebaran holidays in 2026.

The Minister emphasised the importance of maintaining amenity standards and facility comfort for tourists as part of efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of national tourist destinations.

“We want to ensure that all amenities are clean, facilities are comfortable, and services are running optimally. The inspection results show a very good impression,” said the Minister in a statement confirmed from Jakarta on Wednesday.

That tourist destination was selected as the Minister’s inspection site because it is one of the iconic destinations that integrates education and recreation, featuring more than 9,000 animals from around 300 species from various countries, and equipped with various tourist attractions that support the concept of sustainable tourism.

The visit continued to Varuna, an enclosed theatre presenting underwater shows that is one of the innovative attractions. The presence of Varuna is seen as strengthening Bali’s position as a premier destination capable of delivering world-class tourism experiences.

The Minister also stated that amid global geopolitical dynamics, including tensions in the Middle East that have led to the cancellation of several flights, Bali’s tourism performance continues to show a positive trend.

Tourist visits, particularly from domestic tourists, were recorded to have increased by around 3.5 per cent compared to the same period last year.

“Bali has just received the The Best Destination 2026 award from Tripadvisor. This shows that Bali’s image remains strong. Indonesia, particularly Bali, remains a safe and comfortable destination for tourists,” said the Minister.

The Minister also highlighted that global conditions are affecting visits from foreign tourists. However, she is optimistic that recovery will continue with strategies to strengthen markets from the Oceania, Pacific, and Australia regions.

The Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, I Wayan Sumarajaya, assessed that the Nyepi and Lebaran holiday momentum has had a significant impact on increasing tourist visits, especially from domestic tourists.

He added that the target for tourist visits to Bali is still maintained at 6.9 million tourists this year. The positive trend during the holiday period is hoped to continue in the following months, even entering the low season.
