Total's new Indonesian deal
PARIS (Opecna): French oil group Total has signed an agreement
with Asamera, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gulf Canada Resources,
to participate in a production-sharing contract in Indonesia,
Total announced here Tuesday.
The agreement gives total a 30 percent interest in the South
Jambi "B" production-sharing contract area in southern Sumatera.
The accord has been approved by the Indonesian national oil
company, Pertamina, which owns 25 percent of the concession.
The operator is Asamera, with a 45 percent interest following
the assignment. Drilling of the first operational well began in
early October.
"The agreement widens Total's presence in Indonesia, where the
group has been active for more than 25 years," the release said.
