Total to double gas output
SINGAPORE (Reuter): Total Indonesie, a unit of Total SA of France, plans to more than double gas production in Indonesia to 2.2 billion standard cubic feet per day (scfpd) by year 2000, its president and general manager said.
Total currently produces 1.0 billion scfpd which includes 800 million scfpd from the Tunu field, which is part of the Mahakam block on Kalimantan.
"By 2000, we expect to produce 2.2 billion scfpd," Bernard Vitry told Reuters by telephone yesterday.
He said he expected Tunu production to rise to 1.5 billion scfpd by year 2000.
About 500 million scfpd would be produced from the Peciko field, due on stream in 1999 and also in the Mahakam area, he said.
The existing Tambora field, also in the Mahakam area, will produce about 100 million scfpd, around current levels, and the remaining gas will come from associated gas production from oil fields, he said.
Total estimated that Tunu production capacity would be near 2.0 billion scfpd by 2000 and Peciko production capacity would be 900 million scfpd.
