Toraja Narcotics Chief Receives Rp10 Million Weekly Payout From Dealer
A disciplinary hearing at the Ethics Court of the South Sulawesi Police (Polda Sulsel) revealed that the Toraja Utara Police’s Narcotics Unit Chief AKP Arifandi Efendi and Aiptu Nasrullah, head of the unit’s second section (Kanit II Satnarkoba Polres Toraja Utara), accepted bribes ranging from Rp7 million to Rp10 million per week from a drug dealer identified by the initials ET alias O.
In court, Aiptu Nasrullah admitted having received money from the drug dealer ET alias O, who is currently detained at the Tana Toraja Police Station, on 13 occasions, totalling Rp132 million.
‘Saccording to the witness, the amount was around Rp10 million per week,’ said Kombes Pol Zulham Effendy, Head of Propam at Polda Sulsel, Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Thursday (5/3).
Zulham explained that based on the testimony of the drug dealer presented as a witness, there was an agreement with the Toraja Utara Narcotics Chief AKP Arifandi Efendi to facilitate the dissemination of methamphetamine in his jurisdiction.
‘From the dealer, he admitted meeting first, then an agreement was made, and he was allowed to traffic in his area, making it easy once there was an agreement. If there was no agreement, he should have been arrested. During his time there, he was not arrested; the impression is that he was allowed to continue,’ Zulham said.
During the proceedings, Zulham said eight witnesses were present, including the drug dealer, to reveal the process of the drug distribution agreement in Toraja Utara.
‘The dealer was examined earlier, then there were five couriers and defendants, including three members. So eight in total,’ he explained.
The next session will be held again next week with several personnel suspected of involvement in the case.
‘God willing, next week we will hold a hearing with all members,’ Zulham said.
