Top U.S. commander is in town
JAKARTA (JP): The Vice-Chairman of the United States Joint
Chiefs of Staff, Adm. William A. Owens, will arrive today to
discuss bilateral and regional military issues.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy said yesterday that Owens
will address U.S. commitment to the Asia Pacific region as well
as other military matters of mutual concern.
Owens, the second highest ranking officer commander in the
U.S. military, during his five-day visit is scheduled to meet a
number of senior government and military officials.
His trip marks the beginning of an 11-day tour of southeast
Asia which includes Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. (mds)
