Top 10 Countries Investing the Most in Indonesia in Q1 2025
Jakarta, VIVA – Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, who also serves as Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan P Roeslani, revealed that investment realisation in the first quarter of 2025 reached Rp 465.2 trillion. Foreign direct investment (FDI) was recorded at Rp 230.4 trillion, representing a 12.7 per cent increase year on year.
Rosan said the largest foreign investments came from Singapore and Hong Kong. However, in Q1 2025, Malaysia entered the ranks of major investors in Indonesia.
"Malaysia's investment has come in because of a joint venture between an Indonesian company and a Malaysian company, which then invested in Indonesia. This is what has made Malaysia the fourth-largest investor country in Indonesia," he explained.
Based on BKPM data, ten countries made substantial investments in Indonesia during Q1 2025:
1. **Singapore** – US$4.6 billion across 17,060 projects
2. **Hong Kong** – US$2.2 billion across 4,894 projects
3. **China** – US$1.7 billion across 13,788 projects
4. **Malaysia** – US$1 billion across 3,241 projects
5. **Japan** – US$1 billion across 6,684 projects
6. **United States** – US$802.16 million across 2,652 projects
7. **South Korea** – US$683.29 million across 5,711 projects
8. **Netherlands** – US$403.87 million across 3,170 projects
9. **British Virgin Islands** – US$173.69 million across 943 projects
10. **United Kingdom** – US$149.66 million across 2,239 projects
