Toll Roads Already Congested: 34,000 Vehicles Heading to Bandung, 49,000 to Merak
Traffic volumes ahead of the 2026 Lebaran homecoming flow have begun to show significant increases, particularly on toll road sections in the Jabodetabek and West Java regions.
According to data from Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad Regional Division, the surge in vehicles has been evident since H-4, or Tuesday (17/3/2026), and is predicted to continue rising until the peak of the homecoming flow.
In the Jabodetabek region, the total number of vehicles leaving Jakarta towards Merak and Bogor Peak has increased by 14.28%, recording 89,825 vehicles at Cikupa Toll Gate (GT) and GT Ciawi 1, compared to the normal transaction volume of 78,598 vehicles.
In detail, traffic at GT Cikupa towards Merak reached 49,919 vehicles, up 5.90% from normal conditions. Meanwhile, the highest surge occurred at GT Ciawi 1 towards Bogor Peak, reaching 39,906 vehicles, up 26.85%.
West Java
Meanwhile, vehicle movements towards Bandung and Rancaekek have also increased. The total number of vehicles heading to those areas amounted to 77,698 vehicles, up 20.54% compared to normal traffic.
In detail, at Cileunyi toll gate, the volume of vehicles towards Rancaekek, Garut, and surrounding areas was recorded at 43,583 vehicles, surging 36.96%. Meanwhile, vehicles returning to Jakarta through the same gate reached 30,634 vehicles, up 10.02%.
At Pasteur Toll Gate, traffic towards Bandung city was recorded at 34,115 vehicles, up 4.53%. Meanwhile, vehicles leaving Bandung towards Jakarta reached 29,032 vehicles, up 5.38%.
Senior Manager of Jasa Marga Metropolitan Tollroad Regional Division, Widyatmiko Nursejati, stated that the increase in vehicle volume is estimated to continue until its peak on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
Jasa Marga also advises the public planning to travel for homecoming to prepare themselves, their vehicles, and the drivers’ health.
