Bandarlampung — Officers at the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar (Bakter) toll road discovered a bag containing 23 million rupiah belonging to a traveller named Antoni that was left behind at Rest Area KM 116 A.

The incident occurred when Antoni was travelling with his family from West Jakarta to Ranau and stopped to rest at Rest Area KM 116 A, but left his bag at the minimarket area, said Irpan Sahpani, Manager of Other Business Services at PT Bakauheni Terbanggi Besar Toll (BTB), in Bandarlampung on Monday.

The bag was discovered by police officers on duty and rest area staff conducting routine patrols in the area. Recognising that the bag likely belonged to a traveller, the officers immediately secured it at the Security Police Post at Rest Area 116 A.

After receiving the report from field officers, the on-duty team secured the bag to protect the traveller’s belongings and promptly informed road users to visit the Security Police Post at Rest Area 116 A if they had lost or left behind any items.

“After we informed road users that a bag had been found near the minimarket, a traveller named Antoni came to the police post at Rest Area KM 116 A to confirm that the bag was his,” Irpan said.

Upon joint inspection, the bag was found to contain personal items and cash totalling approximately 23 million rupiah.

Irpan urged all toll road users to always check their belongings before leaving rest areas. “We urge all toll road users to verify their belongings before continuing their journey. If you find items left behind, our officers are ready to help secure and return them to the owner,” he said.

The incident serves as a reminder to long-distance travellers to remain vigilant and careful about their luggage, especially when resting at busy rest areas frequented by many road users.

Antoni, the bag owner, admitted he panicked upon realising his bag was missing. He only discovered the bag was no longer with him after getting into his car and preparing to continue his journey. “I only realised my bag was left behind when I was about to continue my journey. Fortunately, when I returned to the rest area at KM 116 A, my bag had already been secured by the officers,” Antoni said.
