To Support the SDGs, BSI Maslahat Distributes 600 Iftar Packages to Bunda Alia Hospital
Warmth filled the air from the late afternoon at Bunda Alia Hospital in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta. Hospital staff moved with purpose while patients’ families passed by, their faces hopeful yet tired as they waited for a doctor who might bring news. In the midst of this, BSI Maslahat stepped in to share joy with those observing fasting by distributing 600 Iftar packages to patients and medical staff at RS Bunda Alia, Duren Sawit.
The activity forms part of an effort to extend ‘maslahat’ in Ramadan, bringing warmth to those carrying out hospital duties. Packages were handed out at several points in the hospital, with the BSI Maslahat team moving from the 1st to the 4th floor to reach more beneficiaries. A mobile “warteg” in the hospital’s main area also served as a distribution point, making access easier for patients, families, and staff outside the wards.
Each package contained a nutritious, ready-to-eat meal designed to support patients and staff with long days. Many recipients expressed relief at not having to leave the treatment area to find food for iftar.
Ayu, a government school teacher who was accompanying her child Raga, five, for a post-operative check following lymph gland surgery, spoke of her gratitude. “I am very happy and surprised. Suddenly there was a free iftar package from BSI Maslahat. Alhamdulillah, I do not need to search for iftar food outside the hospital. I was waiting for the doctor’s call and worried I would miss it,” Ayu said in a statement, Wednesday (4 March 2026).
The activity took place calmly and warmly on Tuesday (24 February) last week. Volunteers greeted recipients politely, ensuring each package was received properly and did not disrupt hospital services.
This generosity extends beyond a single space. The ‘Berbagi Paket Buka Puasa dan Sahur’ program continues to touch many places, from busy stations to serene mosques and hospitals in various regions. At these points, many Muslims observe Ramadan against a backdrop of invisible struggles.
BSI Maslahat’s presence illustrates tangible impact for communities. For patients and families, breaking fast often comes with a challenge, as they must wait through medical checks without interruption. The packages offer a simple comfort during waiting times. For medical staff, the packages provide renewed energy to continue their duties during fasting hours, allowing them to break fast without leaving the building.
This small gesture also supports progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals. The distribution of breaking-fast packages helps patients recovering, as well as medical staff working throughout the day, aligning with SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being). The provision of nutritious meals contributes to healthy and prosperous living, especially for staff still on duty during Ramadan and patients needing extra energy for recovery.
Through the Ramadan Emas programme, Maslahat For the Nation invites everyone to share kindness. Ramadan 1447 H provides a valuable opportunity to broaden the impact. Friends can contribute by donating Iftar and Sahur packages via BSI Maslahat, or through the BYOND app by selecting Menu > Share > Ramadan Programme (BSI Maslahat), or via this link: https://byond.onelink.me/SvFK/byonddlwab. Every aid becomes a meal for those waiting for maghrib with modest hopes; from a single small package, blessings flow endlessly. In this holy month, a sip of drink or a bite of food can be happiness.
