To Reduce Jakarta Traffic Jams, Pramono to Add JakLingko Mikrotrans Fleet
JAKARTA — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has confirmed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will add to the JakLingko Mikrotrans fleet as an effort to reduce traffic jams triggered by conventional city transport (angkot) vehicles that often stop haphazardly or “ngetem”. According to Pramono, expanding the integrated neighbourhood-level transport fleet is an initial step to improve residents’ mobility while reducing the accumulation of angkot on various road sections. “So first, Mikrotrans, JakLingko and so on, of course this fleet needs to be expanded,” Pramono said when met in the Taman Ismail Marzuki area on Wednesday (15/4/2026). “We will immediately prepare for the addition so that the flow of transport at the most grassroots level runs better,” he continued. Pramono also highlighted the habit of conventional transport stopping too long to seek passengers. According to him, this practice is one of the main causes of congestion in Jakarta. “Because if ngetem too long, that’s what causes traffic jams, especially if there’s extortion, all sorts of things. And that’s what we will improve,” Pramono stated. Regarding concerns about economic clashes between conventional transport drivers and the government transport programme, Pramono assured that the JakLingko management system operates openly and transparently.
