The Bekasi City Government, through the Bina Marga and Water Resources Agency (DBMSDA), is accelerating the construction of a dyke on Alinda Road, North Bekasi. This project is targeted for completion before Eid al-Fitr 1447 H or Lebaran.

As observed by detikcom at the location on Thursday, February 26, 2026, heavy equipment was seen dredging the riverbed. Several workers were also seen installing river stones along the water flow.

One of the workers, Paimin (23), said that the construction of the dyke is a continuation of a previous project. For this stage, the work has been ongoing for two days.

“This is a project from the Bekasi City Government, we are continuing the construction from before. We have been installing stones for two days. The length to be worked on is about 200 meters,” said Paimin when met at the location on Monday, February 26, 2026.

He explained that the construction of the dyke aims to strengthen the road structure and prevent landslides. In addition, this project is part of a plan to widen the road and improve the area.

“The goal is to support the road area so that it doesn’t collapse, as there was no river stone retaining wall before. It is also part of the road widening plan, and after completion, sidewalks will be built for pedestrians,” he explained.

After the construction of the 200-meter dyke is completed, it is planned to continue with the repair of the road access in the area.

“After the dyke is finished, we will start working on the potholes in the road, which will be filled or paved up to the intersection in front,” he added.

They are targeting to complete the project in the near future so that the community can enjoy better road facilities during the Lebaran celebration.

“Our target is to complete the dyke and the road before Lebaran. However, we will also consider the weather; if the weather is good, we can work quickly, but if it rains continuously, it will be a bit delayed,” he concluded.

The local residents have given a positive response to the dyke construction project. One of them, Rudi (39), highlighted the aspect of neatness.

“I’m happy because it looks neat, clean, and not messy,” he said at the location.

Similarly, another resident named Putra (32) supports the implementation of this project. According to him, the construction of the dyke provides many benefits for residents.

“Yes, it’s good because it will make the water flow smoothly and also prevent flooding,” he said.
