Depok — A number of residents have taken the initiative to fill holes on Arif Rahman Hakim Street in Depok City so that road damage does not worsen. One local resident, Toto, said he often sees youths routinely filling in the deepest potholes so motorists can pass more comfortably. He estimates some of the holes on the road are about 10 to 15 centimetres deep. He said the activity of filling potholes used to be quite common about two years ago, but now, temporary handling of the damaged road is more often carried out by residents on a voluntary basis. One method is to fill in the holes with rubble from buildings at several locations. Some of the rubble even comes from shop owners in the area. “Repairs used to be done, but then they collapsed again, so now it’s just filled by residents. But when it rains, it becomes muddy and ugly,” he said. A similar sentiment was expressed by Heru, a trader near the location. He said he has seen residents work together to fill the holes several times. Nevertheless, he notes that road damage often recurs because traffic in the area is quite heavy, especially with trucks and angkot (public minibuses). “Yes, permanently repaired, if possible with concrete. This road is also damaged on the way to the market and the station; it is not pleasant to look at,” he added. According to Kompas.com’s observations at the site on Thursday (5 March 2026), the road damage on the route from Pasar Kemiri Muka to Jalan Margonda Raya extends about 10–12 metres. The road, about 4–5 metres wide, appears bumpy, with several holes that have been filled with rubble and tiles. Some holes are also flooded with water to a depth of about 3–5 centimetres. Every motorcyclist passing by must maneuver to avoid puddles and holes that could endanger safety.
