The Trenggalek Regency Government (Pemkab Trenggalek), through its Task Force (Satgas), is currently preparing a comprehensive monitoring system to oversee the quality of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme implementation, particularly at the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG).

Assistant for Government and Public Welfare of the Trenggalek Regional Secretariat, dr. Sunarto, stated that supervision has so far been conducted on a sectoral basis, such as in health, industry, and trade sectors. Through the new system, supervision will be score-based.

“During this monitoring, it is still per sector. In the future, we will make it comprehensive, so that the SPPG can be given a quality score, like A, B, C. It’s like giving a report card,” said Sunarto on Friday (10/4/2026).

This assessment system is expected to provide a quantitative picture of the quality of services at each SPPG kitchen. Thus, existing deficiencies can be clearly identified before being followed up with improvement recommendations.

“If there is already scoring, we can know it quantitatively. For example, a certain score, meaning where the deficiencies are. From there, recommendations emerge,” said Sunarto.

He added that the assessment results can also produce rankings among SPPGs as a form of evaluation and motivation to improve service quality.

“If there is a ranking, it will certainly be material for evaluation as well. The hope is that it can spur quality improvements,” he added.

Sunarto explained that this system is an initiative of the Satgas that has been discussed in a meeting led by the Regional Secretary, and it is targeted to be finalised soon.

The programme is part of the Trenggalek Regency Government’s efforts to maintain MBG quality, from food safety, nutritional value, to management in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP).

“We want to ensure that MBG in Trenggalek is healthy, has no side effects, and is truly beneficial. This is the form of supervision we are preparing,” Sunarto concluded.
