As a concrete step to improve the quality of people’s housing, the Tangerang City Government (Pemkot) through the Housing, Settlements, and Land Office (Disperkimtan) is accelerating the construction of 100 priority houses in the Uninhabitable Houses (RTLH) category. This programme is focused on houses that have experienced damage or have been directly affected by extreme weather.

By 2026, a total of 10,656 housing units in Tangerang City have been successfully rehabilitated through collaborative funding from the Regional Budget (APBD) and the State Budget (APBN).

Tangerang Deputy Mayor H. Maryono explained that thousands of repair proposals come from various community aspiration channels to ensure that assistance is on target.

“We involve various elements in the region so that construction targets can be prioritised, including for residents affected by extreme weather. Repairs to the target of 1,000 houses are carried out in stages,” said Maryono, when opening the Socialisation of the Implementation of the 2026 RTLH Construction Activity, on Thursday (9/4).

In addition, Pemkot Tangerang also provides administrative facilities in the form of free Building Construction Approval (PBG) for beneficiaries. Community Groups (Pokmas) as construction implementers are also facilitated through training and protection of Workers’ Social Security (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) insurance.

“The government is present through policies to exempt Land and Building Acquisition Duty (BPHTB) and PBG to ease the burden on the community. Not only do homeowners feel the benefits, but also the workers involved in the construction,” he added.

Maryono hopes that the implementation of quality and on-time RTLH repairs can continue to reduce slum areas and improve community welfare sustainably.

“Do the work seriously and professionally, because what we are building is the security and safety of residents’ lives,” he concluded.
