To Ease Family Burden, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Delivers Compensation to Heirs of South Jakarta PHL
The Social Security Organiser Agency (BPJS) Ketenagakerjaan has once again proven its role as a lifeline for the families of deceased workers. This was evident through the presence of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Director Saiful Hidayat and South Jakarta Mayor M Anwar at the home of Abdul Kadir, a daily contract employee (PHL) in the South Jakarta Environmental Office (DLH) who passed away while performing his duties as a garbage truck driver. The two attended to hand over work accident insurance (JKK) and death benefit (JKM) compensation to the heirs. The compensation was provided as a manifestation of the state’s presence in protecting Indonesian workers and ensuring that bereaved families can continue their lives. Furthermore, he stated that BPJS Ketenagakerjaan services can be accessed through various channels, including social media. Saiful recounted that information about Abdul Kadir was first received via social media, when the deceased’s child contacted him through an Instagram direct message (DM). “I followed up on that report quickly, accurately, and in accordance with regulations, so that the benefits could be paid directly without any deductions,” he said. In terms of services, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan aims for claim services without queues or difficulties, accessible through any channel. Additionally, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is optimising the one-stop service concept, meaning services can be accessed online, by visiting a branch office, or through the Jamsostek Mobile (JMO) application. “Our main goal is to prosper all Indonesian workers and their families,” Saiful emphasised. On that occasion, Anwar also affirmed that all PHL under the South Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) are protected by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. “It is almost certain that PHL in South Jakarta already have BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, and we are not hesitant to continue socialisation efforts,” he said. “I express my deepest gratitude to BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for their service that is so quick, friendly, and transparent. I hope this money can be used for my future needs with my children, especially for my sick child,” said Ma’anih.
