Gianyar Police Resort (Polres Gianyar) together with farmers planted maize simultaneously in the first quarter of 2026 at the Balai Pertanian Subak Belong, Banjar Tarukan Kaja, Pejeng Kaja Village, Tampaksiring District, Gianyar Regency. The event was held as a demonstration of support for the national food security programme. The event was attended by Gianyar Police Chief AKBP Chandra C. Kesuma, accompanied by Deputy Police Chief Kompol Willa Jully Nendissa and other senior officers of the Gianyar Police. Representatives from Bulog, the Food Security Agency (Dinas Ketahanan Pangan), the Gianyar Regency Department of Agriculture, elements of Forkopimcam Tampaksiring, village apparatus, adat village elders, and the Subak Belong farming group were also present. In his address, Chandra emphasised that simultaneous maize planting is a form of Polri’s support for the national food self-sufficiency programme. He said Polri’s involvement in the food security programme is part of the institution’s commitment to support the welfare of the people and to safeguard national stability. ‘This activity is a tangible expression of Polri’s support, particularly by Gianyar Police and the Bali Regional Police (Polda Bali), in delivering the 2026 maize self-sufficiency programme as part of strengthening national and local food security,’ said AKBP Chandra on Saturday, 7 March 2026. He stressed that the food security programme should not stop at a single planting season but must be carried out sustainably and planned so that the self-sufficiency target can be achieved. ‘Through this large-scale maize planting campaign in the first quarter of 2026, we wish to reaffirm our commitment to continuing in a sustainable, planned, and measured way so that the 2026 food self-sufficiency target can be achieved within the Bali Police jurisdiction,’ he added. The Gianyar Police Chief also expressed appreciation to the local government, village apparatus, and farmer groups that have supported the programme. ‘The success of this programme cannot be achieved without the support of all parties. We thank the local government, village apparatus, farmer groups, and all elements of society who participated in this activity,’ he said. Following the address, the event continued with the handover of aid comprising basic food parcels, fertiliser, and maize seeds to the farmer groups. The guests then jointly planted maize seeds on the Subak Belong farmland as a symbol of the launch of the simultaneous maize planting programme. After the planting, the guests joined a Zoom Meeting led directly by the Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo as part of the national series of maize planting activities.
