To Anticipate Mudik Queues, Banten Police Prepare Delaying System
This system is prepared to anticipate potential queues caused by extreme weather, large waves, or surges in passengers heading to the ports.
In Serang, the Banten Regional Police (Polda Banten) is deploying a delaying system and buffer zones to anticipate long queues during the Lebaran 2026 mudik in port areas.
Banten Police Chief Irjen Pol Hengki, speaking in Serang on Thursday, explained that the preventive steps focus on strategic points such as KM 43, KM 68, Indah Kiat, Wilmar, as well as the Bojonegara area and the Jalur Lingkar Selatan (JLS).
“This system is prepared to anticipate potential queues caused by extreme weather, high waves, or the surge in passenger volume heading to the port,” the Chief said.
In checks covering the route from KBS Port to Merak, the Chief confirmed that readiness of personnel and facilities at the four main ports is going well.
Beyond traffic management, the Polda Banten also maintains an integrated disaster-response post involving the TNI-Polri, SAR, BPBD, and the Health Department.
“We are ensuring maximum readiness to anticipate possible floods, maritime accidents, or other emergencies along the mudik routes,” he emphasised.
Separately, to guarantee the security of mudik travellers’ belongings, the Polda Banten has opened free vehicle storage services across all ranks—from Polda, through Polres, to Polsek.
