To Address Vehicle Queues in Gilimanuk, Ministry of Transportation Accelerates Port Time and Loading Processes
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation, through the Directorate General of Land Transportation, is working to alleviate vehicle queues on the route leading to Gilimanuk Port, Bali.
Director General of Land Transportation, Aan Suhanan, stated that as of 4:00 PM WITA today, there are no longer any vehicle queues heading to Gilimanuk Port, with all vehicles having entered the buffer zone.
“We, along with stakeholders, are continuing to implement mitigation measures to prevent vehicle queues from reoccurring around the port, so that traffic flow can return to normal,” said Aan in an official statement on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
These steps aim to accelerate port time duration, including the operation of additional ships.
As a result, the number of ships operating on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk route has now reached 40, with 30 of them implementing a shortened arrive-unload-depart (TBB) system of 15 minutes to speed up ship operations.
Aan hopes that by maximising this scheme, queues of vehicles heading to Gilimanuk can be further reduced.
“Thus, the density of vehicle traffic around Gilimanuk can be resolved before Nyepi,” he added.
“I would like to thank all stakeholders, including the police and ASDP, for their collaboration in mitigating the congestion in Gilimanuk. We also thank the entire community for following the existing regulations, so that the vehicle queues can now be resolved,” Aan concluded.
