Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has granted extraordinary promotions for non-war military operations posthumously to three soldiers who fell while carrying out a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, along with compensation for their families. The three soldiers are Captain Infantry Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Sergeant One Muhammad Nur Ikhwan, and Private First Class Farizal Rhomadhon. “The three fallen soldiers receive extraordinary promotions for non-war military operations posthumously, as well as the Dag Hammarskjold Medal award,” stated TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto in an official press release received in Jakarta on Wednesday. In addition, the families of the fallen soldiers will receive compensation entitlements from both the TNI and the United Nations (UN). The amount of compensation includes educational scholarships for the children of the fallen soldiers and various other entitlements. The Commander explained that Captain Infantry Zulmi Aditya Iskandar receives compensation worth Rp1,894,688,236, Sergeant One Muhammad Nur Ikhwan Rp1,846,309,049, and Private First Class Farizal Rhomadhon Rp1,854,075,205. “The families also receive continued salaries for 12 months consisting of basic salary, family allowance, and position allowance, as well as a widow’s pension after the continued salary payments are completed,” the Commander clarified. Agus hopes that the compensation provided can alleviate the economic burden on the families of the three soldiers. To date, TNI Headquarters has not been able to ascertain the party responsible for the attack or its motives. The TNI is still awaiting the results of the investigation from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) regarding the matter. Previously, three TNI personnel attached to the UNIFIL mission died while on duty in Lebanon in March 2026. Based on TNI data, Farizal died due to an indirect artillery attack near Adchit Al Qusayr, southern Lebanon, on Sunday (29/3). Meanwhile, Nur Ikhwan and Zulmi died due to a vehicle explosion near Bani Haiyyan on Monday (30/3).
