Jakarta ( ANTARA) - The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) has assured it will take strict action against soldiers found to have violated ethical or criminal regulations. Brigadier General Donny Pramono, head of TNI AD’s public affairs, made the statement in response to numerous TNI AD personnel cases that have gone viral on social media. ’ We do not defend violations, nor are we overly defensive about actions taken. We strive to demonstrate institutional firmness while also encouraging the public to think objectively,’ Donny said at a press conference in Jakarta on Friday. Donny said TNI AD has already taken strict action against soldiers proven to have violated the law. Several cases have reached the court, with proceedings open to public observation. However, Donny urged the public not to assume all TNI AD soldiers are involved in criminal cases. He said the number of lawbreaking soldiers is far fewer than those working to aid the public. ’ Many humanitarian missions go unreported in the media. Do not let the countless acts of service by soldiers be overshadowed by the actions of a few individuals,’ Donny said. Therefore, Donny called for the public to be more objective and avoid forming negative conclusions about TNI AD. On another note, Donny assured TNI AD will evaluate all ranks to improve soldier performance. ’ Internal evaluations continue, including personnel development, ideological strengthening, internal oversight, and digital literacy for soldiers,’ he added. Previously, TNI AD was linked to several criminal cases. One viral on social media was the alleged abduction and murder of a bank branch manager, MIP (37), in 2025. The murders were carried out by three TNI members: Sergeant First-Class Mochamad Nasir, Corporal Feri Herianto, and Sergeant First-Class Frengky Yaru. The case is currently being heard at Military Court II-08 in Jakarta.
