The Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Post-Sumatra Disaster reveals that by mid-April 2026, 12 regional governments have completed huntap data submissions. Meanwhile, 8 other regions did not submit proposals as no houses were found in the categories of severely damaged or missing.

Task Force Chair Muhammad Tito Karnavian explained that out of the total 53 affected districts/cities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, the data collection focus is now on 45 regions with huntap needs.

“The affected areas total 53, but 8 did not submit huntap proposals because there were no severely damaged or missing houses, so we are focusing on 45. Twelve have been received, meaning we are pursuing the remaining 33 within this week,” Tito stated in a written release on Thursday (16/4/2026).

Tito made this statement following a Coordination Meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday (15/4). He stressed that accelerating data collection is the primary foundation for speeding up huntap construction.

The central government targets this process to run parallel with field verification to prevent construction delays.

“BNPB and Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas construction heavily depends on data speed. So we are requesting regional data and I am setting a deadline until next Wednesday,” he asserted.

He also reminded that regions completing data faster will be prioritised in huntap construction implementation. This is to ensure the recovery process remains progressive and not hindered by administrative delays.

“If by next Wednesday it’s not ready, we will build first in regions with ready data. So please, fellow regional heads, do not let your communities complain due to delays in data collection,” Tito continued.

To accelerate the process, the PRR Task Force encourages regional heads to form small teams that directly go to the field to verify survivors’ house conditions in detail.

In line with that, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) confirms that the verification and validation process for huntap submission data has begun. BPS Head Amalia Adininggar stated that data from several regions has been received and verified.

“Up to now, we have received submissions from 12 districts/cities, and this has been verified and validated,” Amalia said.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) states full readiness in supporting the acceleration of huntap construction. PKP Minister Maruarar Sirait affirmed that human resources and planning readiness have been prepared in recent months.

As part of the acceleration scheme, huntap construction will be carried out through several approaches, either independently on safe land owned by survivors with government assistance, or through new communal housing developments in safer locations.

Based on PRR Task Force data as of 16 April 2026, the huntap needs in the three affected provinces are projected at 39,021 units. A total of 241 huntap units have been completed, and 1,243 other units are under construction.

In detail, in Aceh, 104 units have been completed out of a total of 28,876 units, with 395 units under construction. In North Sumatra, 120 units have been completed out of 7,321 units, with 407 units under construction.

In West Sumatra, 17 units have been completed out of 2,824 units, with 441 units still under construction.
