Pidie Jaya, VIVA – The Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri), who also serves as Chair of the Task Force for Accelerated Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Post-Disaster for the Sumatra Region, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, distributed aid to victims of hydrometeorological disasters in Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh. The aid distribution was carried out symbolically by Mendagri Tito together with Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf at the MTQ Building of Pidie Jaya Regency on Friday, 6 March 2026. The aid includes various forms of support for the victims: Rp15 million to heirs for 56 deaths, Rp5 million for 23 severely injured, and a livelihood security allowance (jadup) for 66,629 affected people. In addition, the government distributed temporary housing assistance (huntara) of Rp3 million for 18,839 households and social-economic stimulus of Rp5 million for the same number of recipients. Beyond social aid, Tito handed over additional support from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), including 250 sets of worship equipment and heavy equipment such as dump trucks, excavators, and backhoe loaders. The aid distribution is part of Mendagri’s working visit before closing the Aceh Ramadan Festival 2026 Khanduri Nuzulul Qur’an at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Banda Aceh. In his remarks, Tito praised progress in post-disaster recovery in Pidie Jaya, noting improvements in road infrastructure, normal electricity supply, and the return of several public facilities to operation. ‘Moreover, ongoing efforts involve continuous deployment of the TNI/Polri, BNPB, and various agencies in the post-disaster recovery,’ Tito said at the event titled ‘Handing over Heir Welfare Payments to Victims of Hydrometeorological Disaster and Socialisation of TKD Increase for 2026 for Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra Provinces’, held in hybrid form. Tito also emphasised that President Prabowo Subianto has, from the outset, given serious attention to the disasters affecting several areas in Sumatra. He disclosed that after the disaster occurred, he had proposed emergency funds of Rp2 billion for 52 districts/cities affected, but the President subsequently increased the aid to Rp4 billion for each region.
