JEDDAH — A member of the Haj Supervisory Team (Timwas) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Danang Wicaksana Sulistya, has praised the Mecca Route, or fast-track, service for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims for its perceived ability to speed up and simplify the journey to Saudi Arabia.

The Mecca Route provides acceleration and relocation of the Saudi immigration processing to the departure airports in Indonesia. In his statement, Danang Wicaksana explained that the service means pilgrims no longer undergo immigration checks upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.

According to the member of the Gerindra faction in the DPR, this service offers significant convenience for prospective pilgrims, especially in reducing queuing and administrative travel processes.

It is known that the immigration process, which used to take place in Saudi Arabia, is now moved to Indonesia, making the journey more efficient and comfortable. “The Mecca Route service greatly helps Indonesian Hajj pilgrims. Immigration processing becomes faster so that upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims can directly proceed to hotels or destinations without long queues at the airport,” he said, on Monday 18 May 2026.

He said the innovative service is one form of improving the quality of Hajj administration that directly affects pilgrims’ comfort, especially the elderly and those with certain health conditions.

In addition to speeding up entry into Saudi Arabia, the fast-track service is also seen as capable of reducing congestion at the arrival airports in Saudi Arabia and helping the smooth mobility of pilgrims during the series of Hajj rites.
