Jakarta (ANTARA) - Two digital platforms, TikTok and Roblox, are considered cooperative to some extent as they show good faith in following the provisions ahead of Government Regulation number 17 of 2025 on the Protection and Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas) taking effect on 28 March 2026.

Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid stated that both platforms are still requesting an extension of time to ensure their services align with PP Tunas.

“There is quite good news from two other platforms that show partial cooperative attitudes, namely Roblox and TikTok. To both, we still request them to promptly complete their compliance (with PP Tunas) so it can be done comprehensively,” Meutya said at the Ministry of Communication and Digital office in Central Jakarta on Friday night.

In the future, users under 13 years old are planned to only be able to access Roblox games offline, and online access will not be available.

Nevertheless, this plan has not yet been implemented and will be appreciated by the Indonesian Government if truly carried out.

As for TikTok, this social media platform has conveyed its commitment to gradually deactivate accounts of users under 16 years old.

“So earlier we conveyed their compliance as partially cooperative, meaning the direction is already towards that (full compliance with PP Tunas), just requesting an extension or a little additional time. We also request them to promptly complete their compliance,” Meutya said.

Until 27 March 2026 at 21:30 WIB, only two platforms have fully met the provisions of PP Tunas, namely X and Bigo Live.

PP Tunas was initially introduced and inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto in March 2025; this regulation aims to regulate the governance of digital platforms as electronic system operators (PSE) to provide safe services for children.

This regulation is expected to protect Indonesian children from potential security threats in the digital space, such as cyberbullying, digital scams, and exposure to negative content like pornography.

Minister of Communication and Digital Regulation No. 9 of 2026 regulates the obligations of PSE to include age limits for services or features provided by PSE and to conduct self-assessments to determine risk profiles.

Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid emphasised that this regulation is effective from 28 March 2026, restricting children from high-risk digital platforms, especially for the initial implementation applying to eight digital platforms: YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, Instagram, X, Bigo Live, and Roblox.
