Tighten Official Travel for Civil Servants, Pramono: If It Does Not Provide Benefits, I Will Not Permit It
JAKARTA — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is tightening permits for official travel by civil servants (ASN) within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov). Pramono emphasised that every official trip will now undergo strict selection and will only be allowed if it truly provides benefits to Jakarta. “If it does not provide benefits to Jakarta, I certainly will not permit it,” Pramono stated at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (2/4/2026). “Even now, almost all kinds of trips, including those by regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) and others, many of which we do not permit,” he added. According to him, ASN wishing to undertake official travel must obtain direct approval from the governor. “For official travel, those that require direct approval from the governor, I certainly review each one individually,” he said. Previously, the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian urged regional heads to reduce official travel both domestically and internationally. The circular is a follow-up to the government’s policy of implementing work-from-home (WFH) for civil servants (ASN) in local government scopes. Additionally, regional heads are asked to limit or reduce the use of official position vehicles by a maximum of 50 percent. In the same circular, Tito also urged regional heads to prioritise the conduct of meetings, technical guidance, seminars, conferences, and the like in hybrid or online formats. Furthermore, regional heads are asked to assign Heads of Regional Devices to carry out supervision and control over the implementation of work culture transformation for energy efficiency in the work environment, especially during WFH.
