MANOKWARI, Irian Jaya: The local government plans to resettle victims of the devastating tidal waves which hit the area last month in the near future.

Manokwari regent Mulyono told Antara on Wednesday that those to be relocated are mainly the ones that lost most of their belongings and homes.

Among the locations being prepared is the village of Maripi, some 25 kilometers south of Manokwari.

"Those who live as fishermen will be relocated to the Maripi area while those who work as civil servants will go to the Manggoapi village," Mulyono said.(mds)
