Three Surprises of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H: From the 'Sea of People' in Ancol to Secret Synergy in Gorontalo
Three major events coloured the dynamics of Indonesian society during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah celebrations, each reflecting efforts to strengthen governmental collaboration in Gorontalo, implement social care in Papua Pegunungan, and the high enthusiasm of tourists in the northern coastal area of Jakarta. Collectively, these events demonstrate how the moment of togetherness after the holy month is utilised as a vehicle to reinforce social cohesion and accelerate development. In the governmental sphere, Gorontalo Governor Gusnar Ismail emphasised that the Lebaran silaturahim tradition holds strategic value beyond mere social ceremony. According to him, the intensity of interactions among stakeholders during this moment becomes a crucial instrument for smoothing regional development coordination. He conveyed this statement at the Eid open house on the second day at the governor’s official residence on Sunday, which served as a hub for meetings among regents across the province. Present at the occasion were Gorontalo Regent Sofyan Puhi along with his entourage, followed by the delegation from Bone Bolango Regent Ismet Mile, Boalemo Regent Rum Pagau, North Gorontalo Regent Thariq Modanggu, and Pohuwato Regent Saipul Mbuinga. Also attending were several members of the Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), institutional leaders, and community figures. This collective presence indicates a shared commitment to making Eid al-Fitr a starting point for strengthening cross-regional and institutional synergy in Gorontalo Province. Social Service Amid Limitations in Papua Pegunungan On the other hand, a sense of care emanated from the Papua Pegunungan region. The Border Security Task Force (Satgas Pamtas) of Yonif 511/DY distributed 100 packages of basic necessities to residents of Pirime District, Lanny Jaya Regency. The activity, led directly by Pirime Post Commander Lieutenant Inf Wahyudin, represents a form of social service as well as participation in spreading Eid al-Fitr joy. The distribution of packages containing rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, eggs, and coffee was enthusiastically welcomed by residents who flocked to the task force post. One of the beneficiaries, Mama Maria, expressed deep appreciation for the consistency of the apparatus in providing assistance that alleviates the economic burden on the community. This initiative reflects how religious moments can serve as a medium for strengthening cross-community humanitarian bonds.
