Three resort buildings at Pengantap Beach, Buwun Mas Village, Sekotong District, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), have been demolished. The demolition was carried out by the West Lombok Department of Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, and Settlement Areas (PUPR-PKP) because the structures violated coastal buffer zone regulations.

The Head of the West Lombok PUPR-PKP Department, Lalu Ratnawi, stated that heavy machinery was used for the demolition starting on Sunday (31/05/2026). Prior to the demolition, the department had issued three warning letters to the resort management, but construction had continued regardless.

“The location had previously received three warning letters,” said Ratnawi on Tuesday (02/06/2026).

After the warnings were ignored, the PUPR-PKP Department pursued a mediation process with the resort management. As a result, both parties agreed to demolish the buildings that breached the regulations.

“The execution process proceeded smoothly without any opposition from the resort management, as it was the result of several mediation sessions,” Ratnagi explained.

The resort manager, Jamie McIntyre, stated that an evaluation of the development master plan for the area has been conducted. He ensured that all future construction processes will adhere to the applicable regulations.

“We are committed to carrying out development responsibly and ensuring that all construction processes comply with government regulations,” said McIntyre.
