Three police officers designated as suspects in illegal ammunition distribution linked to shooting of Polewali Mandar resident

Police Brigadier KA (alias C) and Brigadier MS, along with Brigadier DC, have been designated as suspects in the illegal ammunition trafficking case connected to the fatal shooting of a resident of Polewali Mandar (Polman) district, West Sulawesi, whose body was discovered inside his vehicle in 2025.

“Brigadier KA (alias C) and Brigadier MS have been elevated to the investigation stage and their status has been upgraded to suspects in separate case files,” said AKP Budi Adi, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Polman Police, in a written statement on Tuesday (10 March).

In this case, Budi said investigators had previously arrested five individuals, including police officer DC with the rank of Brigadier.

“Several individuals involved have been designated as suspects, namely IDY, K, NPP, MY, and Brigadier DC. The case files for each suspect have been submitted to the prosecutor’s office,” he said.

Based on the investigation into the shooting of Husain in September, Budi revealed the involvement of Brigadier DC, Brigadier KA and Brigadier MS.

“From the investigation, it emerged that starting in May 2025, IDY requested revolver ammunition from Brigadier DC. Brigadier DC obtained the ammunition from Brigadier KA (alias Cippe) and distributed it through intermediary NPP (alias K),” he explained.

Then in August 2025, MY ordered 20 rounds of ammunition from Brigadier MS with the request that the brass on the ammunition casings be removed.

“Brigadier MS subsequently sent the ammunition via a travel service from Mamuju Tengah to Polman,” he explained.

During the investigation, Polman Police seized a .38 and 9mm revolver and ammunition.

“All evidence has been subjected to ballistic testing at Makassar’s Forensic Laboratory,” he said.

Meanwhile, Polman Police Chief AKBP Anjar Purwoko emphasised that the investigation would continue until completion.

He also assured that anyone involved would be prosecuted according to law, and that public security would be maintained in Polewali Mandar district.

“This case is receiving attention because it concerns public security. The case is being handled in a professional, transparent, and accountable manner. Anyone proven to be involved will be prosecuted according to law,” said Anjar.
