Three Petrol Station Workers in East Jakarta Allegedly Assaulted by Security Apparatus Member
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Three employees at Petrol Station (SPBU) 3413901 in Cipinang, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, have allegedly become victims of assault by a member of the security apparatus.
“That is correct — three of our employees were allegedly assaulted by an apparatus member,” said Mukhlisin (38), a staff member at SPBU 3413901, when met at the Cipinang petrol station in Pulogadung, East Jakarta, on Monday.
Mukhlisin explained that the incident occurred on Sunday (22 February) at approximately 10pm local time, when a customer arrived to fill up with Pertalite subsidised fuel.
During the barcode scanning process, the vehicle’s registration number matched the system records, but the type of vehicle being used did not correspond with the registered data.
“The customer was filling up with Pertalite. The barcode number matched, but the vehicle did not match the one registered. The rule at petrol stations is that the registration number and vehicle must correspond with the data on file,” Mukhlisin explained.
“If the barcode doesn’t match, we direct customers to Pertamax instead. Since Pertamax doesn’t require a barcode, they can still be served. For Pertalite, the data must match,” he said.
However, the refusal allegedly provoked the customer’s anger. An incident ensued, culminating in alleged acts of violence against three petrol station employees.
Three victims
Mukhlisin stated there were three victims in total — one staff member and two operators.
They were Ahmad Khoirul Anam, who had worked for approximately five years as a staff member; Lukmanul Hakim, an operator who had only been working for six months after graduating from vocational school; and Abud Mahmudin, an operator with around four years of service.
At the time of the incident, one operator was on duty, one staff member was at the location, and another operator who had already finished his shift came out due to the commotion.
As a result of the incident, all three suffered shock. Although they were not hospitalised, the victims were temporarily given a day off and replaced by other staff members.
“They are currently in shock, but are resting at their respective homes,” Mukhlisin said.
The incident went viral on social media via the Instagram account @nestagram. CCTV footage showed a man dressed in black punching, slapping and shoving the petrol station employees.
