Three men held for heroin

JAKARTA (JP): Three men have been arrested separately for illegally possessing and trading heroin in Central Jakarta, the police said Saturday.

City Police spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said two of the drug-pushers, Rudi Hilwan, 28, and Koreri Suwage, 37, were busted in a raid while trading 30 grams of heroin at Karet cemetery, Central Jakarta, Thursday.

Both men told the police they had obtained the heroin from a foreigner, Aritonang said.

The next day police arrested a man of Cameron nationality at his home in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

Police seized 58 grams of heroin from Tcetue Jaen Philipea, 32. The drug was usually sold for Rp 200,000 (US$83) per gram, Aritonang said.

Aritonang said police shot Philipea in the right knee when he tried to attack officers.

Police are still investigating the case and are looking for other people involved in the drug network. (cst)
