KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: The provincial prosecution office is investigating three former local officials who allegedly took Rp 280 million ($127,000) as a kickback while in office.

They are suspected of taking the kickback from a contractor of a development project, Antara reported.

Chief prosecutor Gagoek Subagianto said the three suspects, who are former officials of the provincial agriculture office, would be brought to trial.

He said the three helped a contractor make a false report on the acquisition of land to be developed into paddy fields. (rms)
