REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BARCELONA — Three Indonesian ships for the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2026 mission have arrived at Moll de la Fusta, Barcelona, Spain, on Saturday (11/4/2026) local time. The ships, bought with funds raised by the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI), will join a humanitarian fleet of hundreds of vessels in the mission to break the Gaza 2.0 blockade.

GPCI Steering Council Coordinator Maimon Herawati said the simultaneous departure of the Global Sumud Flotilla ships from Spain is scheduled for Sunday (12/4/2026). “We know our three Indonesian ships. The first one is named Tendenso, then Altira, Magic Boat. These are our ships, insha’Allah,” Maimon said from Barcelona on Sunday (12/4/2026).

Maimon, who is also a member of the 2026 Global Sumud Flotilla Steering Committee, stated that before setting sail, the ships will be fitted with the Sang Saka Merah Putih as a representation of Indonesian citizens’ participation in the humanitarian mission to break the Gaza blockade. “Tomorrow, we will attach our flag (Indonesia), insha’Allah,” Maimon said.

Previously, Maimon announced that GPCI will assign special names to the three Indonesian-owned ships. Some prepared names include the Ship Farizal Ramadhon, dedicated to a National Armed Forces (TNI) soldier who fell while serving as a United Nations peacekeeper in Lebanon or UNIFIL. The other ship names are Malahayati and Hasanuddin.

However, Maimon said GPCI hopes for participation from Indonesian citizens in suggesting other names for these Indonesian ships. “Citizens (Indonesian people) are welcome to suggest names for our ships. So far, we are thinking of naming the Indonesian ships as Ship Farizal Ramadhon, one as Ship Malahayati, and one as Ship Hasanuddin. But please provide input,” Maimon said on Saturday (11/4/2026).

The 2026 Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian voyage still follows the international waters route in the Mediterranean Sea to break the Gaza blockade. This largest humanitarian mission to stop the occupation and Zionist Israeli genocide is being conducted more massively this year by a coalition of six Palestinian activist groups from around the world. The first convoy of 20 humanitarian vessels was launched by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition group together with Thousand Madleens from Marseilles, France, on Saturday (4/4/2026).

This is followed by ships departing from other European countries before the hundreds of humanitarian vessels converge at a gathering point in the Mediterranean Sea. In addition to the sea convoy, the Global Sumud Flotilla this year is also conducted over land. Thousands of volunteers and activists, led by Sumud Maghribi from the Global March to Palestine, will traverse routes through North African countries to reach Gaza.

Both the sea and land routes of the Global Sumud Flotilla this year have the same mission: to deliver humanitarian aid such as food and clean water, medicines, and baby and women’s necessities to Gaza residents who remain under the Zionist Israeli blockade. The Global Sumud Flotilla mission is also aimed at raising global awareness to stop the crimes against humanity committed by Zionist Israel against Gaza residents in Palestine.
