Security authorities in Saudi Arabia have arrested three Indonesian citizens in connection with a case of suspected illegal Hajj trading and provision of dams. The three Indonesians, with initials LFS, LRH, and LNR, were apprehended in Mecca on Thursday (30/4/2026). “The three Indonesians were secured after the authorities conducted an undercover operation,” said Yusron on Tuesday (4/5/2026). Several pieces of evidence were also seized, including 14 identity cards, two printers, one laminating machine, and a sacrificial certificate. Following up on the case, the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah (KJRI Jeddah) visited the Al Mansur Sector Police Station in Mecca on Friday (3/5/2026). The three Indonesians are still in detention. According to police statements, the case has been handed over to the Saudi Public Prosecution (Niyabah ’Ammah). The matter is currently in the investigation stage before further processing in court. “KJRI Jeddah will continue to monitor the developments of this case,” he said. They are suspected of being involved in the illegal trading of Hajj quotas. KJRI Jeddah has once again urged all Indonesians in Saudi Arabia to comply with applicable laws. They are also asked not to engage in activities promoting and trading illegal Hajj packages, including those related to dams. “We also remind all Indonesians not to be tempted by offers of Hajj without long queues. Hajj pilgrims will face hefty fines, imprisonment, deportation, and a 10-year entry ban for violators,” he said.
