TANGERANG — Three foreign nationals from Morocco, Nigeria, and Iraq were arrested at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang for using fraudulent passports.

The case was first uncovered when immigration officers at the airport’s Special Class I Immigration Service conducted document inspections and discovered irregularities in the travel documents of the three suspects.

“Three foreign nationals suspected of using fraudulent travel documents whilst attempting to exit or enter Indonesian territory through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport were discovered,” said Pamuji Raharja, Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration for the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, at the airport’s Immigration Office on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

The first suspect allegedly used a fraudulent Saudi Arabian passport to enter Indonesia. Suspicion arose during immigration officer inspections at the counter. The examination was subsequently continued by the intelligence team and immigration enforcement unit.

Officers discovered numerous inconsistencies in the passport’s security features, including the absence of a watermark and font variations on the identity page. “The identity used did not match the flight manifest data,” he stated.

The case is now being handled by the investigation team and has been marked by the issuance of a Notice of Commencement of Investigation (SPDP).

One suspect allegedly used a fraudulent Burkina Faso passport numbered A3428115. “For this violation, the individual concerned has been subject to administrative immigration measures comprising deportation and entry ban,” he said.

This suspect was deported on 26 February 2026 using Ethiopian Airlines on a Jakarta-Lagos flight.

A second suspect, a 28-year-old Iranian national with initials ADA, allegedly used a fraudulent Australian passport numbered RA0964330 upon arrival at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on 26 February 2026, travelling on Malaysia Airlines. Officers also discovered that ADA possessed a legitimate Iraqi passport.

“This case is still under further investigation by the intelligence unit and immigration enforcement,” he stated.

“Any foreign individual who deliberately uses fraudulent or suspected fraudulent travel documents may face criminal penalties of up to five years imprisonment and a maximum fine of 500 million rupiah,” he added.
