Three dead in chain accident

SEMARANG: Three people were killed and 13 others injured in a three-way accident involving a tanker truck, a minibus and a jeep on Tanah Putih highway in south Semarang.

The accident occurred on Wednesday night when the tanker truck, loaded with 16,000 liters of fuel oil, lost control on a rise in the road. The tanker rolled back at a fast speed and backed into the minibus and the jeep behind it.

The minibus was pushed and overturned while the jeep was squashed under the tanker. Two minibus passengers and one from the jeep were killed in the accident. Thirteen others were rushed to hospital. (har/emb)
