Bisnis.com, JAKARTA — THR (Tunjangan Hari Raya) disbursement begins ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026. A number of strategies can be prepared by the public or individual investors to make use of the funds. Head of Research at Kiwoom Sekuritas, Liza Camelia Suryanata, explained that historically, THR funds typically do not immediately flow into the capital market because the majority of people still prioritise consumption needs ahead of Lebaran. Those expenditures include family shopping, homecoming travel, or household expenses. “Investors already active in the stock market generally allocate only a small portion of the additional funds for investment, while the rest is kept for short-term liquidity needs,” Liza said on Friday (6 March 2026). In the current market condition, Liza continued, Kiwoom Sekuritas sees investors tending to be more cautious. She explained that while many fundamental stocks are actually quite discounted and approaching the dividend season, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, particularly the Iran conflict which could disrupt global energy paths such as the Hormuz Strait that accounts for around 20% of global oil trade, add uncertainty to the direction of inflation and global interest-rate policy. Therefore, she said, a wiser strategy for THR funds right now is to maintain a fairly large cash position first. “Investors may still start entering the stock market, but it should be done gradually and very selectively, not all at once,” she said. According to her, the gradual approach is important to anticipate volatility if global energy prices rise and trigger inflationary pressures. In addition to stocks, investors can also consider more defensive instruments such as government bonds or fixed-income mutual funds to maintain portfolio stability. “In short, THR should not be invested in full immediately, but should be managed with disciplined money management principles,” Liza said. That disciplined money management includes ensuring Lebaran needs are safe first, before subsequently allocating a portion for investment gradually.
